(Houston) – Performing Arts Houston welcomes the return of the outrageously fun comedy dog show, Mutts Gone Nuts! to Jones Hall on Sunday, October 23 with performances at 1 pm and 4:30 pm. The performance, featuring a cast of rescue dogs who perform tricks, walk tight-ropes, dance, and more, is a treat for the whole family. Tickets start at $29 for adults, $25.55 for children ages 4-11 at performingartshouston.org/muttsgonenuts
Using positive, force-free training and a lot of love, the cast of eight adopted canines has learned to jump to record heights, dance in a conga line, tightrope walk, and more. The four-legged cast members, Feather, Pixel, Charlie, Chuck Taylor, Shorty McNerdy, Mr. Finnie, and Whitaker, each have unique skill sets, personalities, and star quality, proving that even discarded dogs have a lot to offer.
Since 1984, Scott and Joan Houghton have made tracks in the entertainment world with their unique blend of physical comedy and circus artistry. The couple performed their vaudevillian-style juggling show from Las Vegas to Tokyo, including residencies at Lee Greenwood Theater, and Dolly Parton’s theme parks in Branson, Orlando, and Myrtle Beach. In 2005, when the juggling became too physically demanding, they incorporated their beloved pet dogs into the show along with skilled trainer Sam Valle and comedic magician Kaplan. Thus, the crowd-favorite Mutts Gone Nuts! was born.
The Houghtons are motivated by their passion for animals. Through their show, they hope to encourage those looking for a new pet to consider adoption in order to give a second life to an animal in need of a loving home.
