Onward!

Continuing our partnership with Mariachi Festival, we welcomed nearly 6000 mariachi fans to the Wortham Center for the 5th annual festival last weekend, shattering attendance records set by last year’s crowds. Festival goers showed up and showed out in traditional Mexican wear and enjoyed headlining acts including Oscar de la Rosa, Mariachi Imperial de America, and the Mariachi Mariposas.

We’re kicking off the 24/25 Season with our annual Opening Night Party! Join Conrad Tao, Caleb Teicher, and the Performing Arts Houston team onstage following the SEP 14 Counterpoint performance for cocktails, light bites, and a good time. The Opening Night Party is open to all Counterpoint ticket holders for an additional $100 donation, supporting Performing Arts Houston’s programming and education engagement events.

A pianist so nice, you can hear him twice.  

Craving more Conrad Tao, but can’t make it to Counterpoint? He’ll return for a solo recital on OCT 2, performing works by Debussy, Sherman, and more. Houston audiences will get to be among the first to hear this program before he makes his Carnegie Hall debut in January.

The Performing Arts Houston Education & Community Engagement team has two exciting dance classes coming up at the Institute of Contemporary Dance!

Take a vernacular jazz workshop from renowned performer and choreographer Caleb Teicher! The class on SEP 13 from 6-7 pm is open to dancers ages 16+. There’s a reason Caleb has become a Houston favorite!

Ever wanted to train with the legendary Twyla Tharp dancers? Now’s your chance. One of Twyla’s company members will be leading a contemporary dance masterclass on Friday, SEP 27 from 5:45-7:15 pm for dancers ages 16+.
