Edna W. Saunders
Planned Giving Society

We invite you to join the Edna W. Saunders Planned Giving Society by establishing a planned gift to Performing Arts Houston.

The Edna W. Saunders Planned Giving Society is named in memory of Houston’s first impresario, Edna W. Saunders, who programmed and presented performances and events throughout Houston for over 45 years. Dubbed an “Empress of the Arts” by John T. Jones, Jr., Ms. Saunders’s had an indelible impact on our community’s culture, securing Houston’s access to the most accomplished performing artists from around the world until her death in 1963 at the age of 83. John T. Jones, Jr. created Performing Arts Houston in tandem with the opening of Jones Hall in 1966 to keep Ms. Saunder’s legacy alive for all Houstonians.

In keeping with her legacy, the Edna W. Saunders Planned Giving Society propels Performing Arts Houston boldly into the future as we continue to provide the most diverse and relevant performing arts experiences in Houston. Planned gifts ensure long-term support for our work while helping contributors leave their own legacy within Houston’s cultural life.
