Student Art Contest

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, MARCH 15!

Performing Arts Houston’s Student Art Contest aligns the visual arts with Performing Arts Houston’s mainstage programming. Each season, students from the Houston area submit artwork to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to have their artwork exhibited around the city.

The Annual Student Art Contest is open to students in grades K-12 attending public, private or home schools within a 50-mile radius of downtown Houston.

Theme: EXPLORING JOY

Performing Arts Houston provides a window to the world for our audiences. In the spirit of adventure and greater understanding, we seek growth through continual learning. We challenge ourselves and our patrons, participants, partners, and artists to ask questions, gather insights, and explore new ideas. The 26th Annual Student Art Contest encourages students to engage with their communities through self-expression, curiosity, and joy, inspired by three mainstage performing arts presentations that reflect the spectrum of human emotions: MOMIX, Lila Downs, New/Now, and Manual Cinema: Leonardo!

This year’s art contest encourages students to consider: How do you show joy, and how do you see joy in action in your community?

The submission window for the Art Contest will open in January 2024 and close on March 15, 2024. For more information about the Art Contest, check out the Rules & Guidelines, or email us at education@performingartshouston.org.
